Singapore, 30 August 2012 – MTV is back with its fourth installment of MTV Sessions at Resorts World Sentosa’s Waterfront Studio on September 30 where singer-songwriter Russian Red will perform an exclusive set to a live studio audience.  The Spanish artist, otherwise known as Lourdes Hernández, will sing songs including “I Hate You But I Love You”, the first single from her latest album Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura has been a huge success, shooting to the #2 spot on the Spanish sales charts upon its release last year.  Hernández started out as a live performer playing in small clubs in Madrid before moving on to concerts and festivals around the globe. Her unique songwriting skills, exceptional voice and a natural ability to connect with her audience prompted Spain‘s national daily EL PAÍS to proclaim her as the “revelation of the year” in 2008.

Russian Red’s rising popularity also led to her taking home the MTV EMA 2011 award for Best Spanish Act. She was most recently featured on the Spanish soundtrack of Disney Pixar´s new animated adventure film, Brave where she recorded the tracks “A La Luz del Sol” and “Volaré”.

Filmed live before an audience of 200 people, MTV Sessions allows music lovers the rare opportunity to watch international and regional artists showcase their craft in an intimate environment. Besides performing their own songs, the artists also present covers and remixes of songs produced exclusively to MTV. Fans get to learn more about the work and life of these artists who will share their music and personal stories in the locally-produced MTV Sessions which follows a casual yet revealing style. MTV Sessions is presented by F&N Sparkling Drink.

MTV Sessions with Russian Red will premiere on MTV SEA Saturday, October 20 at 12.00pm (SG/HK/PH), 11.00am (WIB) and 1.00pm (MAL) with additional content available online at www.mtvasia.com/mtvsessions. A limited number of tickets to the live studio recording on September 30 will be given away through a weekly online contest at www.mtvasia.com/mtvsessions from August 30 to September 19. Full contest details can be found on the website.

MTV Sessions is shot at Resort World Sentosa’s Waterfront Studio, a purpose-built TV studio located at the waterfront of the 49 hectare mega-resort. Fully treated for the best acoustic performance with state-of-the-art technology, and equipped with the latest in audio, lighting and full HD camera systems, the studio space is optimal for production recordings with a live audience.

ARTIST PROFILE

Russian Red was the indie spontaneous phenomenon in Spain in recent years, taking home Pop-Eye awards for “Best Debut Album 2008” and “Best Female Vocalist 2009” – an extremely rare success story for a Spanish performer that plays folk-pop-rock and composes and sings in English. The irresistible appeal of her music has led to her songs being used in campaigns, television series and films. Russian Red landed a Goya nomination for her ballad “Loving Strangers” which was featured in the Julio Medem movie Room in Rome.

In 2011, Russian Red released Fuerteventura which features a new classic-contemporary sound. The 11 songs open a new, surprising window into the diverse and personal states of mind she experienced from her three years in the music scene. From melancholy to pure optimism, from light to mystery, the album confirms Russian Red’s tremendous ability as a composer and performer. Since the release of Fuerteventura, Russian Red has embarked on a worldwide tour of US, Europe and Asia, taking her delightful folk-pop-rock music to countries such as UK, France, Japan, South Korea and China. Now she is returns to Singapore for MTV Sessions.
